The Symbolism of the Egyptian Ankh

I was asked to give a full understanding of the ankh according to Egyptian philosophy.........

The symbol which I was given for HEART in the Language of Light is the counterpart of the ankh symbol and, as such, it is vital to to this discussion. Having said that, the ankh symbol takes this a step further and it now proclaims that DUALITY (the masculine /feminine or positive/negative force) has been overcome by NEUTRALITY. The neutrality which I am speaking about is the neutral place within the spinal column. The zipped-up element in the spine which spirals us to our reunion with our creator. We are no longer thinking of ourselves as male or female, but an aspect of ALL THAT IS. We have become a part of everyone and everything, no longer seeing anything as residing outside of ourselves. This powerful neutrality is the power of the universe, the expansive and creative particles of an implosive reunion with GOD.

The ankh symbol, in fact, literally combines the two forces within the symbol itself, namely the cross being the male element and the oval being the feminine element (early Egyptian knowledge). These two symbols, the cross and oval, were said to be the two generative principles of heaven and earth and, of course, the Egyptian deities of Osiris and Isis.

In Egyptian paintings, you find many figures carrying the ankh by the open end. This is a trigger to all of us to realize that it is a TOOL or a KEY which was an important part of early Egyptian spirituality. The ankh is a NEUTRAL KEY to unlock the door to the spirit world. Just like the HEART symbol I was given is a GOLDEN KEY which opened the door to truth.

In the symbol for heart, the pyramid below which looks like two feet and which represents the DUALITY of this world, rises above the VEIL and penetrates to the center of the circle for an experience of GOD-REALIZATION.

Now to help you understand the underlying spirituality of other Egyptian hieroglyphics, the symbol for infinity was the shen, which is a circle on top of a line, or the top one-half of the heart symbol. You have then dropped everything earthly and have traversed to the infinite universe for either a permanent or temporary experience.

Anatomy was a sacred knowledge to the early Egyptians. Some of this sacred knowledge, in the form of hieroglyphics, will be discussed here. The heart was the source of all life, the seat of the BA (heart-soul) and the KA (soul). The DJED was thought to represent a man's or Osiris' backbone (spine). The DJED pillar was considered necessary for transformation from human flesh to spirit. The TET was also said to represent the spinal column. In older hieroglyphics, there was a glyph which represented the bottom sacrum, just like that seen in the Great Pyramid article at this site. This glyph had the four vertebral elements on either side, just like the four vertebra that we know comprise the sacrum.

Another glyph, the NEFER, or the word for good, beautiful or happy, is a representation of the heart and windpipe. The glyph of a ladder was said to represent the ladder by which Osiris ascended to heaven (like Jacob's ladder in the bible). The early Egyptians were taught that in order for this Osiris ladder to perform, it was necessary to recite the WORD OF POWER.

Of course, one cannot forget the anatomy of the EYE, the UTCHAT. The two UTCHATS facing each other represented the two eyes of HORUS or the sun and the moon. Now if you take this to its obvious conclusion, the sun is the MALE ENERGY and the moon is the FEMALE ENERGY, you have the power of this world and all others.

Some fascinating things which I have noticed about the alphabetical representations are covered after this alphabetical chart of the Egyptian hieroglyphic alphabet.



The A is represented by an eagle.....that which flies away from the body with wings in the AIR. The BA (soul or spirit) was represented by a human-headed falcon. I have seen many hieroglyphic texts where the BA is flying over the mummified person carrying the SHEN or the symbol for infinity.

The B is represented by a foot....to BE in this world you walk on TWO feet.

The I is the single feather......I become ONE when I am the single feather of truth.

The Y is the double feather.....this, to me, carries two meanings.

The Y, of course, represents the upside down symbol for judgment and we are only in judgment when we are in duality.

The G is represented by what has been known as a stand.....I believe it represents something magnificent, a container with something hidden inside.

The F is represented by the horned low-lying snake.....very close to the earth and earthly concerns and, of course, the TWO horns.

The J represents a higher and rising snake....well when you start JOINING the two components within you (masculine/feminine or negative/positive), the serpent energy starts to rise. The J represents the beginning of the uncoiling of that serpent energy.

The D is represented by a hand.....it is our deeds and actions which define this lifetime.

The R is represented by a mouth....you ARE what you speak.

The T is represented by what some call the picture of a loaf.....I like to think of it as representative of the TRUTH of this life which is that we are only one-half of the GREATER CIRCLE, until we start the magic within ourselves.

The L is represented by the lion.....the golden king and a royal symbol in early Egypt. Remember the saying, when the lion shall lie down with the lamb. A lamb is the softness of the feminine energy (white energy to the solar plexus) and the lion is the power of the male energy (golden energy of the crown chakra or golden bowl).

Of course, there are many more hieroglyphic symbols, but these to me emphasize the underlying spirituality which, I believe, has been overlooked when interpreting the early Egyptian life and
texts.

Spend some time inputting marvelous words like God, angels, sacred, holy, heaven and others. You will start to see the underlying spirituality yourself and come away with a new understanding.

        

This picture of Tutankhamun reveals the vulture's head and the risen snake (cobra) as the symbols of his ruler ship.

The significance, according to current belief, is that this represented the unification of two lands. I believe it represents the joining of the vulture goddess female energy and the male energy of the risen Kundalini. These are the two forces of joined spiritual power and penetration, illuminating the entire being with the truth of ALL THAT IS.

The power of the ancient Egyptians was their spirituality. In fact, the early Egyptians thought that the god's spoke in pictures (Language of Light) and that to write hieroglyphs was to speak the language of God. So the scholars, most of whom haven't a clue about that spirituality, are deciphering it verbatim and leaving out the underlying spiritual meanings of these hieroglyphic symbols and texts.



The necklace pendant which is displayed below has a lot of symbology. The chain looks like the spinal column and it also looks like a snake. The spinal column is where the magic takes place and of course it is the rising kundalini energy which causes this magic. You will notice that this vulture carries in each talon the SHEN, or the symbol for infinity. Red is the center color in each of these symbols. Red is the color of the base chakra.

See if you can figure out more symbolic meanings. There is much here for contemplation.

           

The symbol which you see here is the most magical that I have found to date, when looking at ancient Egyptian antiquities. I have spoken throughout my website about the three circles. Well, when I came across this picture, I was speechless. I don't think I can say it any clearer than this image, which was long before crop circles. It absolutely defines the spirituality and the mystical knowledge about this circular world that the early Egyptians were so knowledgeable about. In the center circle here, they are pulling on the silver cord to release the being from the bonds of earth. Does the silver energy reside at the solar plexus region, you be the judge.

                           

This image of Ptah is powerful and loaded with underlying spiritual meaning. The very first thing which is obvious is the blue of his head. This blue skullcap is a sign of complete spirituality having replaced the human-ness. If you have read the documents within my website, you know that this color blue is that same color which peaks out from behind your eye. This is the color of the top part of the tetrahedron of power which is contained within the article on the great pyramid.

The 3 of the green triangle becomes active at the moment of our first breath.

The 3 of the blue spiritual triangle looms all around us every day we draw a breath.

The 3 of the magic golden triangle slides into place when we have been filled with GOD'S BREATH.



In this wonderful image you will notice the circle at the bottom of the staff which he holds. The circle below rises to overcome the earthly plane, flowering into the ankh symbol for life (joined principles of male and female), as described previously. The staff isn't held out to the side, but in the center of the body, the neutral position, the center position of power. It is from this neutral position, having joined male and female attributes, that the being no longer wars with itself and this is when the powerful golden triangle can slide down into place. This is when we are in our spiritual power, as is Ptah in this picture.

Also, you will notice that there are four cross bar elements which this being has overcome. Those are the four sides of the manifest earth world, the 4 of materiality and human-ness.

I was asked a simple question about the ankh and have turned this into a dialogue about early Egyptian spirituality. I hope that this written work will help you better see that there is more to the hieroglyphic interpretations than currently is understood.
